Together with the Cologne Chamber of Crafts and the Faculties of Civil Engineering (06) and Energy and Machine Systems (09), the Faculty of Architecture presented itself with the two research projects InterCOM and InterACT at digitalBAU in mid-February. The Cologne spin-off of the world-renowned BAU trade fair, which takes place every two years in Munich, celebrated a successful premiere with more than 10,000 visitors. The joint assembly of the InterACT prototype, based on a modular wood construction system, was the prelude to three intensive days at the fair.

As part of the Bachelor elective module Building with the computer, students and trainees in the carpentry trade at digitalBAU researched current developments in digital planning and production at the trade fair. In addition to participating in lectures, discussion rounds and visiting the more than 250 exhibitor stands, they conducted and evaluated interviews with experts. After the trade fair, the findings were processed, evaluated and supplemented with further research in a two-day workshop at the Faculty of Architecture. The results have finally been summarized in the form of informative video essays on the following topics:

digitalBAU – VR im Bauwesen (Rafael Chroboczek, Tristan Scholz, Roberto Hernandez Garcia)

digital BAU – 3D-Druck (Armin Kovach, Christian Krämer, Joscha Neuwirth)

digitalBAU – Green Building (Levin Jakobs, Fabian Nowak, Ekrem Meikikci)
